Rules and Regulations

Eligibility: This contest is open to residents of the United States who are 18 years or older. Employees of Washingtonian Media and affiliates, and members of their immediate families are not eligible.

How to Enter: All eligible entrants can enter for a chance to win by submitting a photo, the photo’s description, contact information, and payment on the submission page..

You can submit multiple images in the contest, but each image must only feature one subject (and will count separately in the voting). Collage photos will not be accepted. All images submitted with multiple features or as a collage in one image will be disqualified from the voting.

Washingtonian reserves the right to eliminate and delete any photo entries deemed inappropriate and refund the entry fee.

One (1) Overall Winner will be selected by a panel of independent judges. The judges will base their determination on the creativity of the description and photographic quality of the photo. One (1) People’s Choice winner will be selected through online voting.

The winner(s) will be notified by email or telephone. If a winner is unreachable after seven (7) days, or if that winner is unavailable for prize fulfillment, an alternate winner will be selected. If Washingtonian Media cannot find an eligible winner for a prize, that prize will not be awarded.

PRIZES: The Judges’ Pick and People’s Choice winners will have their winning photograph published on a page of Washingtonian magazine. All entrants will receive a digital faux Washingtonian cover, delivered as an e-mailed JPEG, featuring their entry’s photograph and name. All entrants will also receive an annual subscription to Washingtonian (if you are already a subscriber, 12 months will be added on to your current term).

Washingtonian Media has no responsibility for lost, late or misdirected entries. All contest entrants agree to release Washingtonian Media and its partners and affiliates from any and all claims and liability with respect to and in any way arising from participating in this contest, accepting any prize(s), or technical, hardware, software or other failures of any kind.

The Contest and all of the related pages, contents and code are copyright, and/or The Washingtonian. Copying or unauthorized use of any copyrighted materials, trademarks or any other intellectual property without the express written consent of its owner is strictly prohibited.

All entrants agree to comply fully with each provision in these Official Rules. Any person attempting to defraud or in any way tamper with this contest or any person who does not comply with these Official Rules, will be ineligible for any prize.

By submitting an entry, the winners agree to allow use of his or her name, and/or photograph for promoting this contest without compensation, unless prohibited by law.

Taxes are the sole responsibility of winner.

Contest void where prohibited or restricted by law. Entries are non refundable, except where required by law.

Except as otherwise required by applicable law, Washingtonian Media Inc. and its respective affiliates, employees, legal representatives, assigns and licensees, are not responsible for any loss or damage associated with an individual’s entry into this contest, the independent judging of the contest or the provision or otherwise of any aspect of any prize or any act or omission of any other person or party, and all warranties, conditions and representations (of any kind) not expressly set out in the Official Rules are hereby excluded.

This contest is not intended for gambling. If it is determined that a contestant is using the contest for gambling purposes they will be disqualified and reported to authorities.

The Washingtonian reserves the right to change the rules at any time.
